Lars Mikkelsen-3-1024x657Lars Dittmann Mikkelsen was born 6 May 1964. He has played Troels Hartmann (Copenhagen mayoral election candidate) in The Killing and [1] Charles Augustus Magnussen (third series of Sherlock) as well as the Russian president Viktor Petrov on Netflix's American House of Cards, and Grand Admiral Thrawn from Star Wars Rebels. He was awarded the Reumert Prize of Honour in 2011. When he was 27 when he began his studies, he was accepted into the National Theatre School of Denmark. He graduated from there in 1995. In addition to his part in The Killing, [1] the actor also appeared in Borgen III, a Danish drama series that was highly regarded. He also played a central character in an episode of BBC drama Sherlock in which he played the blackmailer Charles Augustus Magnussen. In the American TV show House of Cards he played the president of Russia. He received an International Emmy Award in 2018 to honor his performance in the Danish TV drama Herrens Veje. The show aired in the UK in 2019 as Ride Upon the Storm.
