Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington, a Greek American businesswoman and syndicated journalist is an author. She founded The Huffington Post, is the founder and CEO of Thrive Global as well an author of fifteen novels. Arianna Huffington, an independent liberal news website and a television host as well as a writer and an philanthropist. Originally from Greece she was able to move to England at the age of sixteen and then graduated from Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. The first ever foreign-born student to hold the position of president in the famous debating group The Cambridge Union, at 21, she was able to take on the role. She was a conservative syndicated writer after the graduation ceremony and, when The Huffington Post launched a couple of years following, she launched an online platform for voice with a critique of current politics. The fame she gained helped her to convince several celebrities to contribute their opinion regarding current affairs, the political and culture. Arianna's fame started in 2003, after she declared herself an independent candidate in the California recall vote in order to replace the then governor Davis. She was also involved in an initiative in Detroit that promoted cars that are fuel efficient. Forbes identified her as the most influential woman in the field of media in the year 2009. Her ranking was in the 12th spot on Forbes' ranking. The Guardian added her to the list of top 100 media for 2009. AOL Inc. bought The Huffington Post, and she was made president of the media company. This included many AOL products at the time such as Engadget AOL style list and Patch Media. Elli Stasinopoulos was a daughter of Konstantinos an advisor to management and a journalist. She was extremely close to her father. However, it was her bond with her mother which shaped her. Even during her formative years, she exhibited the qualities of a leader for which she is still well-known. When she was in her 16th year she moved to Britain to study and enrolled at Girton College Cambridge. She joined the Cambridge Union college debate society throughout her college years in which she became the first woman to serve as president. In 1972, her master's in Economics was conferred. In the years following the graduation ceremony, she became an editor of the critic's column and a television host. Her appearance on Face the music with Bernard Levin was also notable. She began to write books with his guidance for editing.
