Lee Roy Selmon's lifestyle includes football scholarship, family work and involvement in the community. The first family is his youngest of nine children of Lucious and Jessie Selmon raised on a farm in Eufala, Oklahoma. He played football alongside three brothers for Oklahoma. The three brothers were all All-Americans. In 1973, Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the starters for one year. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's best lineman. Lee Roy won two championships, and 32-1-1 in his three seasons as Oklahoma's starter. Selmon was given a second scholarship in 1975 and selected as an National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon graduated with a degree from the University of California, Berkeley. Lee Roy's fourth time of service was ten-hours per week of volunteer time in college. Following graduation, Lee Roy settled in Tampa where he spent nine years playing for the Buccaneers. Three times, he was selected All-Pro. He began his business career. The first position he held was an Account Relation Officer at First Florida Bank, Tampa. He was a member in the past for Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. So it's not surprising that in 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce named him as one of the country's 10 outstanding young males. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in size and weighed in at 256 pounds in his college days. He captained the 1975 team. In 1993, Roy was a part of the University of South Florida's athletic department as the assistant director. He has been inducted in the College Football Hall of Fame since 1988. His parents, Lucious and Mary Selmon Jr. were awarded the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma awarded it.
